About

This retreat welcomes yoga practitioners of all levels, beginners to seasoned yogis.

Our morning class will cover a wide range of  yoga practices such as warmups, tendon awareness, stretches, twists, inversions, backbends, and balancing poses, followed by a relaxing, aroma therapy induced savasana (rest).  We will also incorporate meditation and explore different types of breathwork, known as pranayama, in all classes, and its impact on our practice and overall well-being. Additionally, we will cleanse our bodies through a specially prepared diet and kriyas, and meditate on the beach at sunrise. This retreat aims to help us learn, deepen our practice, and gain a better understanding of what yoga means to us personally and how it assists us in our daily life.

In the afternoon, we will gather for smoothies and conversation in the cafe, followed by a gentle practice  such as restorative yoga, guided or walking meditations, breath exploration, yoga nidra, dharma talks and/or soothing sound baths using Tibetan singing bowls.

Restorative yoga promotes relaxation on physical, mental, and emotional levels, allowing us to relearn the art of relaxation and develop self-soothing skills.

Meditation will be explored through different methods with tools to help us focus and quiet the mind. Breath exploration, or pranayama, involves regulating our breath to achieve different effects such as calming the mind, energizing the body, and supporting manifestation and visualization.

Sound baths provide an opportunity for introspection and inner peace as we immerse ourselves in the soothing sounds.

On the morning of the solstice, we’ll rise with the sun, meditate, and set intentions during this powerful moment. We’ll enjoy earths bountiful gifts during our brunch and dinner, and meditate as the sun sets, setting intentions and manifesting.

We will learn new things, deepen our practice, and gain a better understanding of the transformative aspects of yoga.

About Connie Cappos
Retreat Leader + Teacher

I am the founder and director of Kupukupu Yoga, which I opened in Pahoa, Hawaii in 2012. Like many, my relationship with Yoga started on quest to find a healthier way to live. After 25 years of smoking, unhealthy living, obesity, stress, and chronic pain, it was through yoga that I was able to finally get my mind, body, and spirit reconnected and live happily.

I have been studying, practicing, and teaching yoga since 1998. My yogic path began at Yoga Oasis retreat center in Puna, Hawaii where I trained under Hayward Coleman daily, and many other established teachers who would guest teach and do a residences there. I studied and was introduced to many different styles and aspects of yoga. I eventually became a staff member, and then a teacher, receiving my 200-hour yoga teachers’ certificate in 2009. I taught and lead wellness retreats for Yoga Oasis before opening Kupukupu Yoga in Pahoa in 2012. I was forced to quickly close the studio in 2014 due to volcanic eruption headed for the front door. I just as quickly relocated to Hawaiian Sanctuary Retreat Center. From 2014 -2020, I managed the yoga program and was the mentor/teacher/facilitator for the yoga intern program which I created at the retreat center. I worked closely with the in-terns, guiding them to go deeper into their own practice and understanding of the yogic teachings. I also have been part of 4 different 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training teams, taught various workshops and at yoga festivals; including teaching the opening class to hundreds at the Hawaii Yoga Festival in 2017 and being chosen as Ambassador representing the United States at the International Yoga Festival in Rishikesh, India in 2023 and again in 2024.

In early 2020, I went to India to study with various yoga masters and spiritual leaders. The experience had an impact on my teachings and personal relationship with yoga. I have returned to India every year since as a student, studying with my teachers and spiritual leaders.

I am committed and dedicated to my own daily yoga practice, it is as important to me as sharing my knowledge of yoga with others. I teach my regular classes throughout the week, mostly active flow and a gentle class for beginners and seniors . I am currently teaching in the studio in Hawaii and at Okreblue Yoga Retreat Center in Greece the summer months. I lead yoga and wellness retreats in Hawaii and Greece. In the future I plan to expand and bring these retreats to different locals globally.

I will be going back to India March 2025 for a Yoga pilgrimage and to enter immersive studies with my teacher and spiritual leaders in preparation for my upcoming retreats and workshops.

I am also world traveler, a celebrity wardrobe stylist, manage my own tropical vacation rental and grow a lot of my own food organically. I am passionate about health, wellness and expansion.

In my classes I use my years of experience on the mat to combine an active practice of Hatha yoga, Pranayama, Kriyas , Qi Gong, and yoga therapy, in a fun safe and welcoming environment

Retreat Tesimonials

I think things are starting to shift in the right direction and a huge part of that is down to the wisdom and teachings that Connie shared so thank you so much🙏 I think about you and the retreat every day and am just so grateful to have had this experience. I truly feel this has been a pivotal moment in my life and something that I needed to do, and now I need to create the time and space to work out what's next.

The retreat with Connie at Okreblue was exceptional - from the welcome on the first day through to our very last practice together, everything was thoughtfully planned and delivered with a huge amount of love and care.  The accommodation is wonderful, set in the most tranquil location just moments from the sea, and the food is excellent with freshly prepared vegan and vegetarian options each day.  Connie is a wonderful teacher with a huge amount of knowledge of all limbs of yoga - her classes had great variety and she really took the time to tailor to all different levels and abilities.  If you are looking to rest and recharge in a beautiful place whilst learning and practicing yoga, this is for you!

I really appreciated the combination of movement, breathwork, mediation, and education.  You clearly put a lot of thought into everything - for me this was true yoga.

Connie is energetic and well seasoned individual in many aspects of life and she brings her energy, experience and wisdom in cultivating  unity in the group and in  her yoga teachings, to form such an amazing Yoga Retreat. She is able to teach and accommodate all levels and experience of the each and every individual flawlessly.  Greece is my favorite country and Okreblue is a beautiful, special  and unique place to unite with nature and the sea and to feel more grounded and to do some inner work. The vegetarian food was amazing and nourishing, it was perfect!

My experience with the Mediterranean Yoga Odyssey and Connie was phenomenal. I went into the retreat looking forward to the meditation and yoga, but I didn’t expect them to be so rewarding. Connie’s excellence as a teacher and guide is immense, and each day I gained a fuller understanding of not only the importance of yoga for holistic health but also how much yoga as a practice means to me (inspired in part by her example and dedication!). I was sometimes challenged physically and came to a better appreciation of how much I benefit from that kind of exertion mentally, emotionally, and physically. Okreblue itself is an incredible location, with just the right amount of comfort, nature, privacy, and space for sharing and connection. As the group reflected on often, we were lucky to have such a friendly, kind, and open-minded retreat leader, and this made the experience all the more better. In many ways it feels like this opportunity found me, and I’m so very grateful.

This experience was by far the best yoga retreat I have ever had and I’ve done many.  Connie is a gifted and truly spiritual holder of the wisdom  of yoga in body, mind and spirit.  She intentionally manifested our group and gifted each with a mala from India she personally blessed in the sacred Ganges.  We practiced aspects from all the 8 limbs of yoga and her music selections were so inspiring. Each afternoon before practice we had smoothie hour giving us time to share and connect with each other.  Okreblue retreat center is perfectly located next to the Mediterranean Sea in a rural area, served delicious healthy meals and our accommodations were so sweet!  We were escorted on interesting excursions and arrangements were made for SUP boards. Each of Connie’s classes had a well-considered theme and intention and was shared with love and consideration for each one of us.  The bar was set high and we were pushed to be our best but because Connie has the biggest, warmest, all-inclusive, fun, loving, positive heart, every day and everything was wrapped in joy!!!  ❤️❤️❤️

It's the way you make everyone feel welcome, and like they too can achieve mastery of any pose. I've never had a Yoga teacher show the care and kindness that you have and even helped me achieve poses I never thought I could. You are a gem Connie.
